iRest® Yoga Nidra Meditation

iRest pairs Western psychotherapy with the ancient practice of yoga nidra meditation. iRest (Integrative Restoration) is an evidence-based transformative practice that leads to psychological, physical, and spiritual healing and well-being. It is done lying down in restful position. iRest is for anyone who wants to start a meditation practice or deepen their existing meditation or spiritual practice into an embodied practice. In iRest, you are guided through the layers of the Self – the Physical Body, the Breath and Energy Body, the Emotional Body, the Core Beliefs Body, the Blissful Body, and then to Pure Awareness. iRest practice is integrative as it heals the various unresolved issues and traumas that are present in your body and mind, and restorative as it enables you to recognize your innate peace of mind that is always present amidst all changing circumstances of life. iRest provides you with tools to help you relax deeply, release stress, increase resiliency, improve your interpersonal relationships and provide you with greater mastery and control in your life. iRest nourishes noble qualities such as joy, peacefulness, empathy, forgiveness, patience and lovingkindness toward yourself and others. In this 8 course series, you will learn and experience not only a meditation, but individual tools that you can integrate into your daily life. There will be a short lecture, group discussion and 35 minutes of experiential practice. The practice is traditionally done lying down with comfortable bolsters and blankets, or you may choose to sit. You will be provided downloadable audio recordings in order to practice at home and a student workbook with a summary of each class. iRest is an evidence-based, mind-body approach that is the result of thirty years of observation, research and hands-on development by Dr. Richard Miller and associates. We will decide the time as a group. Suzanne Powell has been teaching mindfulness and mind-body integrative disciplines for 10 years. She holds certifications in 500-hr advanced yoga, 1600-hr AMSAT Alexander Technique Teacher Training (known as the first somatic educator), The Dart Procedures-infant to childhood development re-education, iRest® Meditation Level 1, and Shambhala Guide meditation instruction training. She helps people relieve pain, tension & stress long-term in her private practice using The Alexander Technique, The Dart Procedures, and iRest Meditation. She teaches introductory workshops at UNM Continuing Education and movement studios around town. Her practice is informed by 10 years of disciplined meditation and mindfulness personal practice. She is passionate about demonstrating how people can connect to their innate well-being and wholeness.
